Install Monitoring Agent

Install the Thaki Cloud Monitoring Agent on a custom image to enable instance monitoring.

The default images already include the monitoring agent. If you register your own image and want to use instance monitoring (CPU, memory, and network usage), install and configure the agent before registering the image, following the steps below.

Administrator privileges required

Installation requires administrator privileges — run with sudo on Linux, or in an Administrator PowerShell on Windows.

Follow the procedure for the operating system of the VM (or image-build environment) where you prepare the agent.

Linux

Ubuntu

bash
curl -fsSLO http://inf-agents-demo.thakicloud.net:38088/ubuntu/init-pkg/agent-bundle-ubuntu.tar
tar xf agent-bundle-ubuntu.tar
sudo bash agent-bundle-ubuntu/tk-agent

Rocky Linux

bash
curl -fsSLO http://inf-agents-demo.thakicloud.net:38088/ubuntu/init-pkg/agent-bundle-rocky.tar
tar xf agent-bundle-rocky.tar
sudo bash agent-bundle-rocky/tk-agent

Windows

Run PowerShell as Administrator.

Start → search powershell → right-click → Run as administrator

powershell
curl.exe -fsSLO http://inf-agents-demo.thakicloud.net:38088/ubuntu/init-pkg/agent-bundle-windows.zip
Expand-Archive .\agent-bundle-windows.zip -DestinationPath .
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\agent-bundle-windows\tk-agent.ps1

Verify the installation

While the install script runs, it reports progress with the following messages.

MessageMeaning
Thakicloud Monitoring Agent Installation StartInstallation started
Thakicloud Monitoring Agent Installation CompleteInstallation complete
Thakicloud Monitoring Agent Installation Status ActiveStatus check (Active / Error)

If the last line shows Status Active, the agent is installed correctly. (If it shows Error, check administrator privileges and network connectivity, then run it again.)

Next step

After the agent is installed, snapshot/register the image. Instances created from this image will show CPU, memory, and network usage in the Monitoring tab of the instance detail page.
