Policy Quick Start

This guide walks you through limiting resource usage per namespace and setting container defaults.

Set a Resource Quota

To cap total CPU, memory, and object counts for a namespace:

1. Go to Container app → Policy → Resource Quotas.

2. Click Create Resource Quota.

3. Fill in the required fields:

   Field	Description
   Name	Quota name
   Namespace	Target namespace
   CPU Limit	Total CPU cap (e.g. 4)
   Memory Limit	Total memory cap (e.g. 8Gi)
   Pods	Maximum number of Pods (e.g. 20)

4. Click Create.

5. Monitor Used / Limit usage in the Resource Quotas list.

Configure a Limit Range

To automatically inject default CPU and memory values for new containers in a namespace:

1. Go to Policy → Limit Ranges → Create Limit Range.

2. Fill in the required fields:

   Field	Description
   Name	Limit Range name
   Namespace	Target namespace
   CPU Default Limit	Default CPU limit for containers (e.g. 500m)
   Memory Default Limit	Default memory limit for containers (e.g. 512Mi)

3. Click Create.

4. New containers in this namespace automatically receive the default limits.
