Create a PVC
Create a Persistent Volume Claim (PVC) to request storage for use in Pods.
Prerequisites
- A Persistent Volume or a Storage Class with dynamic provisioning must be available to satisfy the requested capacity.
Step 1. Open the Create PVC form
Select Storage → Persistent volume claims from the left sidebar. Click the Create persistent volume claim button in the top right.
Step 2. Enter PVC settings
| Field | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Name | PVC name | my-app-data |
| Namespace | Target namespace | default |
| Storage Class | Storage Class to bind | standard |
| Access Mode | Access method | ReadWriteOnce |
| Requested Size | Requested capacity | 5Gi |
TIP
Specifying a Storage Class will automatically provision a PV. To use a manually created PV, select the same Storage Class as the PV or leave it blank.
Step 3. Confirm creation
Click Create. Check the Status in the Persistent volume claims list.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
Pending | Waiting for PV binding |
Bound | Successfully bound to a PV |
Lost | Bound PV has been deleted |
The PVC can be used in Pods once the Status is Bound.
